Common questions
Drivers need at least 30/60/25 auto liability coverage. Home insurance isn't required by the state, but mortgage lenders require it. Most private employers can choose whether to carry workers' compensation.
If you live on the coast, your home policy may exclude wind and hail. TWIA sells that coverage in the 14 first-tier coastal counties and parts of Harris County east of Highway 146.
No. Flood needs a separate policy from the National Flood Insurance Program or a private insurer, and NFIP policies usually take 30 days to start.
